Albanians' Peace
Council established in Austria
On July 7 2022 the Albanians' Peace Council in Austria was
established in Vienna. Over 70 people filled the conference room, including
prominent and well established Albanians from all over Austria, local
Ambassadors for Peace and interested youth. The event was moderated by Marinela Stefanc, the Secretary
General of UPF Austria with Albanian origin. The welcoming remarks were given
by Mr. Peter Haider - the president of UPF Austria. In his keynote speech the
Ambassador of Albania to Austria, H.E. Roland Bimo, emphazised that peace cannot be taken for granted, a fact
which became evident during the last few months even in Europe. Peace has to be
cultivated and there is plenty of work to do for Ambassadors for Peace. Remarks
were given also by Mr. Bahri Troja
- the key person who invited representatives of the Albanian diaspora for the
event. The Ambassadors of Albania to the OSCE in Vienna, H. E. Eglantina Gjermeni, herself an
Ambassadors for Peace, attended and greeted participants.
After a beautiful performance by Anela
Cindrak, an artist from Montenegro with an Albanian
mother, Mr. Gaqo Apostoli - the Coordinator of
Albanians' Peace Council in Diaspora gave an encouraging message accompanied by
a couple of songs. Then the secretary General of UPF Albania, Mr. Gani Rroshi, gave a presentation
of the vision underlying UPF and reported about initiatives and activities on
the International level and by UPF in Albania. Finally 15 Albanian VIPs living
in Austria were appointed as Ambassadors for Peace, constituting in this way
Albanians' Peace Council in Austria. Mr. Bahri Troja was elected as its first chairperson and coordinator.
UPF is an NGO in General Consultative Status with the ECOSOC
of the United Nations
